This year, we’re supporting more charities than
ever, and our team, customers and guests are the
everyday heroes doing the donating, fundraising
and time-giving. We’ve already raised more than
£285,000 for Wooden Spoon initiatives over the
last 12 months.
Here’s the list of our incredibly good causes:

starting with food allergy narf.org.uk

of disabilities and social needs dogsforgood.org

Terry
The couldn’t-do-without-him landlord
of The Canford in the coastal village of
Canford Cliffs near Poole.
Terry left his hometown of Farnham, aged 18, winding up in
Winchester, working in a bustling city boozer. But the call to keep
going west was strong. Terry remembers he and his wife would
always choose Poole for their R&R, and they quickly fell in love
with the area, moving there in 2016.
He started his career working in kitchens, but he was soon climbing
the walls to get front of house where he could witness the whole
story. From the weddings and birthday celebrations to the 昀椀rst dates
and quick pints with mates, he says there’s no other industry that
creates such memories, and it’s a blast to be part of it.
When he’s not working, you can usually 昀椀nd Terry on the golf
course or trying not to fall off a paddleboard. He also has a sandy
soft spot for Studland Bay, a ten-minute chain ferry ride away.
Talking about the pub, Terry explains it’s buzzing with events
throughout spring and summer. The much-loved Burger Shack
launched in April. In May, there’s a Rosé & Seafood event. And the
pub’s Summertime Feast package is proper-popular with friends,
family and colleagues celebrating with seasonal spreads in the
outdoor private dining areas.
Musing on village life, Terry tells us that Canford Cliffs has great
community vibes, and that the pub is right at the heart of it.
From coffee meet-ups, wet dogs, and dry robes in the mornings
to post-beach family trips in the late afternoons when everyone’s
red-faced from the sun and hankering after a bite before home time.
Yep, it’s all about the people for Terry. And he says watching his
team develop and grow is the biggest reward of all. Cheers, Terry.
